Access for All Mid-Tier project is aimed at encouraging greater uptake of rail travel by improving station amenities and accessibility through making low specification improvements to regional stations that need them.

Eight priority stations have been selected to receive enhancements to the current provision of station facilities encompassing upgrades to a combination of wayfinding, seating, and shelters. The priority stations that have been identified for enhancement are: Freshford, Lawrence Hill, Nailsea & Backwell, Parson Street, Patchway, Severn Beach, Stapleton Road; and Yate.

The project has successfully secured a funding contribution of £548,000 from the Department for Transport’s Access for All Mid-Tier fund. A funding agreement was signed in May 2022. The Access for All funding is contingent on match-funding, and the remaining funding requirement of £552,000 is proposed to come from West of England Combined Authority’s Transforming Cities and Investment Fund (£467,850) and an agreed contribution from North Somerset Council (£84,150).
