Careers Hub Collaboration Fund

Decision Maker: Chief Executive, West of England Combined Authority

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Approval of Careers Hub Collaboration fund grants to Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset. £93,000 {£31k per Local Authority) of funding to support local Careers activity in each Local Authority was approved in the Careers Hub Business Case (April 2022) with delegated approval of spend to CEO's.

Decision:

1. That funding totalling £93k is awarded in the following manner:-

a. £93k is allocated to fund delivery of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance activity to support school age young people at risk of NEET (Not in Education, Employment and Training).

b. The £93k will be allocated to Bristol (£31k), B&NES (£31k) and South Gloucestershire (£31k) who have identified cohorts of students that will be targeted for support between March 2023 and August 2024.

2. The recommended spend on additional CEIAG for risk of NE ET young people would support the Employment and Skills Plan objective to enable all young people to achieve their potential as part of the Mayoral Priority to secure decent jobs and training. This would also support the Careers Hub strategic action to support young people most at risk through transitions.

3. A central delivery framework, logic model and evaluation and monitoring plan has been created to ensure the impact of the funding can be effectively evaluated.

4. The Local Authorities have provided their delivery plans including the target cohort, number of students, budget and the outputs that would be achieved. Each Local Authority anticipates supporting a minimum of 30 young people through the project (total 90).
