Decision Maker: Chief Executive, West of England Combined Authority

Decision status: Recommendations approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

In January 2023, a delegation was granted to the CA Director of Infrastructure in consultation with the Infrastructure Directors of the constituent Councils to approve urgent change requests relating to the Transforming Cities Fund, to ensure that the fund is fully utilised by March 2023.

Seeking to promote secure residential storage in line with our ambitious transport and growth goals, the Combined Authority is expanding the local trial of on-street Cycle Hangars in Bath and North East Somerset through using this Transforming Cities Funding by the deadline.

Decision:

To add to the existing Cycle Hangar Project £200k of Transforming Cities Funding for the delivery of additional on-street cycle hangars in Bath and North East Somerset, and the required work to prove value for money. These will be delivered by March 2023.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 – The chosen option of accelerating local delivery with Transforming Cities Funding.

Option 2 – To accelerate delivery using other funding sources such as Investment Fund. This was not chosen as it does not take advantage of time-limited funding.

Option 3 – Not to deliver the hangars at this time. This was not chosen as it does not advance our targets and take advantage of the successful local trial to deliver for residents.
